Our Sports Science Program underpins two learning pathways within our College. These streams are:
- Sports Academy
- Science (STEM) Academy
Sports Academy
Students with strong skills in sports have the opportunity to be selected into one of our four pillar sports
- Rugby
- Soccer
- Volleyball
- Netball
and will become part of our Athletics Development Program.
This program while, focussing on sports coaching will be formed around programmes linked to Physical Education, Health, Fitness, Physiology, Vocational Education Training (VET) Certification and Victorian Certificate of Education. The program will offer before and after school sports training with specialised coaches.
While there is focus on sporting skill development, this programme will require all students to complete formal academic studies in Mathematics and English.
It is vital that students within this stream develop academic skills, as we will have agreed relationships with both Victoria University and Deakin University where students will have the opportunity to transition into University/tertiary level studies such as Physiology, Biomechanics, Physical Education Teaching and Exercise Science.
Our first stage of our Sports / Science Hub will the developed for 2018 with the addition of a college gymnasium and
weights training space.
Science (STEM) Academy
Our Science programmes are strongly related to studies in Technology, Engineering, Robotics and classical Science studies in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. Mathematic strengths are critical for this program and we would see students undertaking a number of mathematical studies.
The sciences will be hands on, especially around the areas of Robotics, Design and Engineering areas with a specialised first stage Robotics Laboratory designed at the Deloraine Campus 2018. Our Primary Campus students will also have access to these programmes.
We are currently taking enrolments for our Sports Science Academy linked to the four pillar sports:
- Rugby
- Netball
- Volleyball
- Soccer
(Each of the sports is linked to a State or National body)
