I am pleased to announce to our community that the Andrew’s Labor Government has promised a pre-election commitment of $9.5 million for Stage I re-development of the College. I met with the Member for Werribee, Treasurer of Victoria and Minister of Resources, Mr Tim Pallas this morning, along with Ms Sarah Connolly (pre-selected Labor candidate for Tarneit) and Mr Telmo Languillier, Member of Parliament. This is really exciting news for the College and will provide the resources our students and community deserve.

Dear Parent / Guardian

As you know, over the last four years our College has strongly pursued an agenda of improvement to provide the evidence required to develop a strong case for funding and redevelopment. We have been able to deliver improvement, programs and better facilities and now the Government has recognised our achievements. In fact, this year we have received our best Naplan results, Student opinion feedback, Parent feedback and Staff opinion survey results. Through strong management and financial planning, we also have a very healthy budget – some of these funds are now being directed into grounds improvement.

Our Sports Science Academy is attracting significant community interest with enquiries now outnumbering spaces available. In fact, in 2019 we have added an additional Year 7 Sports Science class to meet demand. I believe also, that our partnership with Belgravia Leisure, providing an Olympic style gymnasium at our Callistemon Campus will similarly draw strong community interest. We will deliver Prep to Grade 3 Physical Literacy Program, we are currently developing a Human Movement Program for students with Autism and we will also deliver high level elite gymnastics training within our Sport Science Academy. Of course, the pre-election funding of $9.5 million to refurbish the College will provide first class buildings and resources to deliver these curriculum programs. I would like to thank all of our teaching staff who have delivered the improvement we needed to substantiate a case for additional funding and our College Council for the work they have committed over the last four years. In particular, the work of Mr Jim Williamson, our Community Council Member, has guided and advised our process. The leadership by our College Council President, Mr Marcel Mahfoud, has also been greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Yours sincerely

David Smillie
College Principal

DELIVERING A GREAT LOCAL SCHOOL FOR HOPPERS CROSSING

Hoppers Crossing families will get the world-class local school their kids deserve, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to build the first stage of The Grange P-12 College’s masterplan.

Labor will invest $9.5 million to transform tired old classrooms and facilities with a major upgrade to the science block, Block F, Block G and Block H.

The Liberals didn’t spend a single cent on The Grange P-12 College and slashed $1 billion out of our education system, leaving schools to crumble and decay across the state.

The Labor Government has already funded The Grange P-12 College masterplan but there’s more work to do and only Labor will deliver the upgrades students and staff at The Grange P-12 College need to achieve their best.

The Liberals slashed $1 billion out of our education system and left schools to crumble and decay across the state.

The Labor Government has invested more than $3.8 billion to build 70 new schools and upgrade 1,300 schools across the state since coming to office in 2014.

That means thousands of Victorian kids now go to school every day and learn in new classrooms with better technology and facilities, like new gyms and science labs.

It’s also helped create 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians right around our state.

A re-elected Labor Government will keep delivering for Victorians with more new schools and upgrades to existing schools across the state.

Quote attributable to Minister for Education James Merlino

“The Liberals closed schools and cut funding to our education system and given the chance, they’ll do it again.”

Quote attributable to Treasurer Tim Pallas

“No matter where you live in Victoria, every student deserves to have a great school – a re-elected Andrews Labor Government will make sure they do.”

Quote attributable to Member for Tarneit Telmo Languiller

The Grange P-12 is great local school and only Labor will deliver this massive upgrade to give students and staff the state of the art facilities they need to achieve their best.”
