The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is the certificate that many students receive upon satisfactory completion of their secondary education. The VCE provides diverse pathways to university, TAFE and further study, and to employment.
Year 11 VCE students study 6 subjects. English, Literature, or English as an Additional Language (EAL) is a compulsory subject. English/EAL runs for 6 periods per week. All other subjects run for 5 periods per week.
Year 12 VCE students study 5 subjects and each subject runs for 5 periods per week. Year 12 English/EAL (or Literature) is compulsory.
